ESS Space Rental

Looking for a unique place for a party, meeting, or other event? ESS is now offering its entire space for one-day or one-night event rental, including its gallery, main studio, and garden. If you’ve been to an ESS event like Vinosonic, an opening at Audible, or a Sunday Solo concert, you know how warm and welcoming the space is, and how lovely it is to sit or lounge in the garden. The space accommodates up to 80 people comfortably, and ESS can provide tables, chairs and kitchenette access. For a small surcharge we can also arrange for music (of course!) – recorded, DJ’d, or live – assistance with setup and cleanup, and photo or video documentation. And we can also put you in touch with some local food experts for special discounts on catering.

Rental rates: 6 hours $500, 6-12 hours $750

Surcharges: recorded music $75, DJ $200, live musicians $300, setup and cleanup $100, photo and video documentation $150.

Garden at Night

Looking for a unique place for a party, meeting or private performance? The beautiful ESS space is available for event rental, including the Audible gallery, main studio and garden. If you’ve been to an ESS event like Vinosonic, an opening at Audible or a Sunday Solo concert, you’re familiar with the warm lighting of the welcoming indoor space, and the peaceful beauty of the garden—a secluded gem in the heart of the city.

The space accommodates nearly 100 people comfortably, and ESS can provide tables, chairs, kitchenette access, and parking. For additional fees, we can also provide additional services: music (of course!) – recorded, DJ’d, or live music from our contacts with some of Chicago’s finest musicians from every genre; assistance with setup and cleanup; and photo or video documentation. We are also pleased to put you in touch with some local food experts for special discounts on catering.

Audible Gallery

Encompassing approximately 400 square feet, Audible Gallery features hardwood floors, charming exposed brick walls, and windows looking out on Ravenswood Ave. Panels lining the sides of the room are perfect for displaying artwork. There is a handicapped-accessible bathroom adjoining the gallery. Audible is the perfect room for a small gathering, reception, or meeting.

Studio A

Studio A functions as the “live room” for the recording studio. It features hardwood floors, movable acoustic baffling, projection screen, and a baby grand piano. Folding tables and chairs are available to shape this extremely versatile 425-square-foot space.

ESS Garden

Tucked away from the street, our garden offers a serene retreat from the noise of the city. With exposed ductwork, creeping ivy, cobbled paths, stone stairs and gravelled terraces, the garden is accessible from both floors of the building, and adjoins an alley-accessible parking area that can accomodate 2-3 vehicles—perfect for loading in and out.
