Last week, acclaimed Chicago drummer and ESS friend Frank Rosaly ran into an extremely unfortunate circumstance; his car, containing many cymbals and other hardware, was stolen. We can't imagine what a busy drummer such as Frank will do without a car to haul his gear to the hundreds of shows he plays each year, so we're hosting a last-minute concert/party to help him raise funds so that he might begin to recoup his losses.

Join us on Friday night and enjoy performances by Frank with some of his closest collaborators. We'll have a healthy supply of beer and wine on site, 100% of the proceeds of which will go directly to Frank. Also, for donors to the cause present on the night of the event, we'll have an exclusive and extremely limited CDR of a performance he gave at ESS in 2010—hand-packaged by Frank himself!

AMAZING NEWS!

Firstly, on behalf all of us at ESS, THANK YOU for your generous donations to the benefit for Frank Rosaly. The outpouring of support has been nothing short of breathtaking. We've raised nearly $3500 - and that's before tonight's event!

This morning, Frank received a call from the police informing him that they have recovered his car with all of his gear intact! While this is amazing news, it leaves us in a strange position.

IF YOU HAVE ALREADY DONATED:

After discussing it with Frank, we have two options to present regarding how we handle your donations:

1) If you would like, we are happy to refund all or part of your contribution in light of the good news.

OR

2) You may choose to let your donation remain in the pool. Any money we do not refund will be added to what we collect at the door and through beverage sales at tonight's event. We will deliver the money to Frank; the thieves did inflict some damage to his car, and he will use some of the money to make repairs. In celebration of the overwhelming support and community spirit you have shown him this week, he will distribute the remainder between various presenting organizations in the Chicago community who have supported his work throughout the years. These include (but are not limited to) Umbrella Music/Elastic Arts, ESS, Comfort Station, The Ratchet Series at the Skylark, and the Ears & Eyes music series at Jerry's.

If you would like your donation refunded, please let us know by emailing info@experimentalsoundstudio.org with "Rosaly Refund" in the subject line. We will do our best to get the money back to you within the week.

If you would like your donation to go toward giving back to the Chicago creative music scene, you needn't take any action at this time.

No matter what you choose, we hope to see you at tonight's event so that we may celebrate the robust community that came together to support Frank this week. It was truly moving to behold. It is your generosity of spirit that makes Chicago a powerful, world-class incubator for experimental music and and art of all stripes.

If you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to email info@experimentalsoundstudio or call 773 769 1069 - if we miss your call, we will get back to you as soon as we can.

With humble gratitude,

Dan Mohr
